Dr. Kerry Gilbert is an Honorary Associate Professor in Medical Education and Medical Sciences at the Peninsula Medical School (Faculty of Health), University of Plymouth. She leads Enquiry-Based Learning (EBL) initiatives and co-leads the 6-Year BMBS with Foundation Y0 Programme. Her roles extend to Widening Participation in Medicine, Senate membership, and committee work on Equality and Diversity.
Education:
- BSc Biochemistry (University of Wales Aberystwyth)
- MSc Cell and Molecular Genetics
- PhD in Plant Biochemistry (Natural Dye Production in Woad)
- Master of Clinical Education (Distinction)
Research Interests: Medical education methodologies (PBL/EBL), curriculum innovation, 3D imaging in anatomy teaching, and small-group learning efficacy. Prior research focused on plant genetics and sustainable dye production, including EU-funded work on organic textiles and advising the Eden Project's dye plant exhibits.

Advising & Grants: Led peer feedback assessment projects, e-learning optimization initiatives, and 3D anatomy curriculum development. Funded by MA/EU for plant dye research. Active in Plymouth’s breastfeeding advocacy committees.
Teams/Labs: Involved with the Peninsula Medical School’s Curriculum Development Team and interdisciplinary groups advancing technology in medical pedagogy.
