Kent Buse is a Professor and Director of Program Development at the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University, Malaysia. He also serves as co-CEO of GH5050, a leading gender equality research platform in global health. Previously, he was Chief of Strategy, Policy, and Research at UNAIDS and held faculty roles at Yale University and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
His research focuses on health policy, gender equity, and systemic health governance. Notable works include the textbook Making Health Policy (3rd edition) and contributions to the Lancet Commission on Gender and Global Health. He advocates for systems-based solutions to health inequities, emphasizing the role of gender analysis in policy design.
Buse’s recent work highlights the need for sex-disaggregated data to address health disparities and critiques commercial determinants undermining physical activity policies. He actively engages in global health advocacy through platforms like Bluesky, discussing topics such as aid policy, climate change, and disinformation in health governance.
