Dr. Kelvin Wong is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Swinburne University of Technology’s School of Health Sciences. He holds a PhD in Psychology from UNSW Sydney and is a clinical psychologist with expertise in experimental psychopathology, focusing on obsessive-compulsive and related disorders (OCRDs), mood disorders, and anxiety disorders. His research integrates qualitative and quantitative methods to identify causal and maintaining factors of symptoms, develop assessment tools, and evaluate novel interventions, including virtual reality and cognitive bias modification.

Dr. Wong’s research interests include fear of self, inferential confusion, mental contamination, and cognitive-behavioral mechanisms in psychopathology. His recent publications explore the development and validation of psychological instruments such as the Fear of Depression Recurrence Questionnaire and the multidimensional Fear-of-Self Questionnaire, as well as experimental investigations into cognitive interventions for OCD and hoarding disorder. His work frequently employs experimental and longitudinal designs to test causal relationships and treatment efficacy.
His grant-funded research includes major projects from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, focusing on cognitive-behavioral therapies for OCD and mechanisms of social cognition. He actively supervises PhD and HDR students on topics including social cognition in early psychosis, future-oriented thinking in depression, and identity in OCD.
