Kelly Cobb is an Associate Professor in the Department of Fashion and Apparel Studies at the University of Delaware, part of the College of Arts & Sciences. Her research focuses on sustainable textile design, applied materiality, and co-design strategies for well-being. She holds an MFA from the University of Florida and a BFA from the Maryland Institute, College of Art. Her work includes innovative projects such as wearable narratives for memory care, compostable mushroom fabrics, and supply chain tracing in denim production.
Cobb has led industry collaborations, including Made-in-USA athleticwear research and a mobile fashion workshop promoting upcycling. She emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, such as the 'Braided Approach' to design and the development of the SnuggleTime garment system for neonatal care. Her grants include EPA-funded projects on biodegradable materials and sustainable curriculum development.
