Kel Bachus is a Professor and Program Director of the Interactive Narrative for Games and Digital Media at Champlain College's Division of Communication & Creative Media. They pioneered Champlain's Interactive Narrative major in 2022 to address industry needs for narrative specialists, emphasizing equity and justice in digital storytelling.
Education: B.A. in Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Professional experience includes roles in the video game industry on titles like Elder Scrolls Online and mobile/legacy platforms, blending game design, writing, and genre fiction publishing.
Research focuses on inclusive creative spaces, decolonized processes, and justice-centered narrative design. Founded Rad Magpie, a Vermont nonprofit supporting marginalized developers, and operates a student summer studio for independent projects and startups.
Advocates for equity in the gaming industry through curriculum development and community initiatives. Current leadership roles include directing Champlain's narrative program and advising student-led ventures.
