Keith N. Hampton is a Professor of Media and Information at Michigan State University (MSU) and serves as Director of Academic Research for the Quello Center. Previously, he held roles such as Endowed Professor in Communication and Public Policy and Co-Chair of the Social Media & Society Cluster at Rutgers University’s School of Communication and Information. He has also taught at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication and MIT’s Department of Urban Studies and Planning.
- Education: PhD and MA in Sociology (University of Toronto), BA in Sociology (University of Calgary).
His research focuses on the intersection of communication technologies, social networks, democratic engagement, and urban environments. Key areas include the societal impacts of social media, such as stress, social isolation, exposure to diverse viewpoints, and civic participation.
