His research spans Renaissance Literature, Shakespeare Studies, and Non-Western Literatures, with particular focus on Vietnamese cultural contexts and film adaptations. Recent work examines Shakespearean reception in Africa, Asia, and the Americas, exploring how universal narratives transform across cultural boundaries. His scholarship bridges literary theory, performance studies, and postcolonial discourse.
Publications demonstrate consistent engagement with global adaptation trends, from Madagascar's Makibefo to Vietnamese theatrical productions. Conference presentations reveal deep investment in Shakespeare's political dimensions, including apartheid-era Othello and contemporary YA literature.
Through extensive lecturing at Vietnam National University and the Great River Shakespeare Festival, Jones actively promotes cross-cultural dialogue. His personal connection to Vietnam through adoption profoundly shapes his scholarly perspective on cultural exchange and literary translation.
