Kayleigh Lavelle is a Senior Lecturer in Postgraduate Nursing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) at the University of Sunderland. She joined the university in 2021, transitioning from a 14-year nursing career in roles such as NHS Sister/Stroke Specialist Nurse and Senior Clinical Practitioner. Her current roles include Deputy Programme Leader for the Enhanced Clinical Practitioner apprenticeship programme and Deputy Leader for the BSc (Hons) Nursing (Top-Up) ICBT in Sri Lanka. She teaches modules like 'Managing and Effecting Change in Healthcare' and advocates for international student support and belonging, contributing to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives.
Her research interests span stroke care, leadership, patient safety, and social inequalities, alongside her ongoing MSc in Inequality and Society. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her CPD teaching includes respiratory care, ear care management, and nurse prescribing. She also supervises dissertations and serves as a personal academic tutor.
Dr. Lavelle is engaged in a research project titled 'Digital Divisions: Assessing Digital Literacy in Internationally Educated Nurses' through the SURE initiative. Her work emphasizes addressing healthcare challenges and societal inequalities, reflecting her dedication to advancing clinical practice and education.
