University of Surreyمعرفی
Professor Kathrin Cohen Kadosh is an Associate Professor in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience and Associate Dean of the Doctoral College within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Surrey. She leads the Social Brain & Development (SBD) Lab, focusing on understanding how children and adolescents develop social cognitive abilities through neurobiological mechanisms, particularly investigating the role of the gut microbiome in behavior and brain function. Her research integrates developmental neuroscience, psychopharmacology, and clinical interventions to explore anxiety, learning, and neurochemical markers in youth.
- Education:
- PhD from Birkbeck College, University of London
- Postdoctoral training at University College London, King's College London, NIH (USA), and University of Oxford
Research interests include the gut-brain axis, neurodevelopmental disorders, and translational interventions targeting mental health. She has published extensively on microbiota modulation, neurochemical markers of anxiety, and neurofeedback techniques in adolescents. Her work bridges basic science and clinical applications, emphasizing the importance of early-life neurodevelopment for lifelong resilience.
Publications highlight systematic reviews on psychobiotics, neuroimaging studies of emotion regulation networks, and clinical trials testing prebiotics for anxiety reduction in youth. She collaborates internationally, contributing to encyclopedic references and textbook chapters in developmental cognitive neuroscience.
As lab head, she oversees interdisciplinary projects exploring microbiome-nutrition-brain interactions and mentors students in translational research. Her future work aims to advance personalized interventions for neurodevelopmental conditions through a systems-level approach.
