Her research centers on emotional discourse in German political writing from 1871 to 1933, with a focus on how mass movements used emotional rhetoric to legitimize ideological claims. She also explores intersections between psychological well-being and political activism in feminist writing from the 1970s to the present.
Her research interests include:
- Nineteenth- to twenty-first-century German literature
- History of emotions
- German political cultural production
- History of German social and political movements
- Feminist and socialist women’s writing
- Print media and narrative strategies
Her recent publications examine emotional regimes in reproductive rights activism, anti-fascist political essays, and representations of motherhood and class in Weimar literature. The articles reveal a consistent focus on how emotional narratives are strategically deployed in political discourse across historical periods.
She has received significant recognition for her scholarship, including:
- 2023 Forum for Modern Language Studies Prize
- 2020 Women in German Studies Essay Prize
