معرفی
Professor Karla Hutt is a Research Professor in Anatomy & Developmental Biology at Monash University, leading the Ovarian Biology Laboratory within the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute. Her work focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms governing oocyte number, quality, and DNA repair processes, particularly in contexts of maternal aging and anti-cancer treatments.
Education: PhD from Australian National University (2006), postdoctoral research at University of Kansas Medical Center (USA). Career highlights include roles at Prince Henry's Institute (now Hudson Institute) before joining Monash in 2015.
Research interests center on apoptosis regulation, DNA repair pathways in oocytes, and fertility preservation strategies. Key projects include investigating immunotherapy impacts on ovarian function, Chlamydia-induced fertility damage, and cytokine effects on oocyte maturation.
Active grants include leadership in projects funded by the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Australian Research Council, totaling over AUD 10M. Projects span 2013–2028, focusing on fertility preservation, uterine health post-cancer treatment, and germline regulatory mechanisms.
Labs/Teams: Ovarian Biology Laboratory at Monash, collaborating with Hudson Institute and international partners. Current research explores therapeutic interventions to protect female fertility during chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
