Dr. Karen Taylor is an Associate Professor in Practice in the School of Education at Durham University. She serves as Director of Education and the Institute of Learning and Teaching at the International School of Geneva (Ecolint), leading pedagogical strategy across eight schools. Her research focuses on Global Citizenship Education, International Mindedness, and inclusive teaching practices in diverse, multilingual settings.
With a PhD in History from Georgetown University, Dr. Taylor’s work bridges historical scholarship and contemporary educational challenges. Her key initiatives include the RIPE network (Research Informed Practice in Education), collaborating with universities like Durham and Geneva to integrate academic research into classroom practice. She also explores co-teaching models for inclusion, supported by Next Frontier Inclusion and UNIS Hanoi.
Her historical research examines women’s education in eighteenth-century France, analyzing Enlightenment-era concepts of virtue, citizenship, and gender. This foundational work continues to inform her current projects addressing modern educational equity and cross-cultural pedagogy.
Dr. Taylor has presented widely on international education topics, including keynote addresses at Durham University and University College London. Her publications span journals, book chapters, and edited volumes, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning.
