Karen Russell serves as an Adjunct Professor at Lewis & Clark Law School, teaching Water Law (Spring 2016-2025 and Spring 2026) and Environmental Law and Policy at Lewis & Clark College. She concurrently holds the position of Budget and Financial Administrator at Earthrise, a legal center within the law school.

Professor Russell specializes in environmental law advocacy, with 16 years of experience at WaterWatch of Oregon driving water policy reforms for instream ecological needs. Her expertise spans legislative drafting, environmental impact analysis of water bills, and nonprofit financial management consulting since 2006.
Her distinguished honors comprise:

As Interim Executive Director at WaterWatch, she managed fundraising, budgeting, and board relations while serving as Senior Staff Attorney before Oregon Water Resources Department. She maintains active membership in Oregon and Washington State Bars and is widely respected for her environmental advocacy leadership.
