Dr. Karen Harlos is a Professor and former Inaugural Chair of the Department of Business and Administration at the University of Winnipeg. Her research focuses on workplace mistreatment, bullying, employee silence, and healthcare workplace dynamics. She has held academic positions at McGill University, the University of Otago, and adjunct roles at the University of Northern British Columbia and McGill University.
Her work has been supported by grants from SSHRC, Fonds Québécois de Recherche, and others. Key awards include the Best Paper Prize at the Australian Industrial/Organizational Psychology Conference, and her contributions to health policy, including co-creating Manitoba’s first Psychological Health and Safety Strategy. She has led interdisciplinary projects on workplace bullying prevention and employer strategies for hiring individuals with disabilities.
Dr. Harlos has served on editorial boards for the Journal of Management and Journal of Management Inquiry, and contributed to national and international health research committees. Her research integrates organizational behavior theory with practical applications in healthcare and public policy.
