Dr. Justine Tomlinson is an Assistant Professor in Medical Education at the University of Bradford's School of Pharmacy & Medical Sciences (part of the Faculty of Life Sciences). She specializes in medication safety, particularly in transitions of care for older adults, and has a strong focus on qualitative research methods. Her work integrates clinical practice (as a former elderly care pharmacist) with academic roles, including teaching on the Physician Associates and MPharm programs. She co-supervises 4 PhD and 2 MSc students, with research interests spanning pharmacogenomics, healthcare professional education, and translational medicine.
Her research has been funded by NIHR, including a £156k award (2017-2021) to improve post-discharge care for older patients, and current projects like the MAGNET study on dementia medication self-management. She collaborates with NHS trusts and CCGs to translate research into clinical practice. As PGR coordinator, she supports doctoral students and fosters research capacity in pharmacy.
Dr. Tomlinson holds a PhD from the Medicines Optimisation Research Group at the University of Bradford (2016-2020), combining clinical work, teaching, and research. Her professional background includes roles as a community pharmacist manager and Learning & Development pharmacist, emphasizing staff education and training. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
