Beth Fylan is a Professor in Healthcare Systems and Safety at the University of Bradford's School of Pharmacy & Medical Sciences, part of the Faculty of Life Sciences. She serves as Deputy Director of the National Institute for Health Research Yorkshire and Humber Patient Safety Research Collaboration (NIHR Yorkshire and Humber PSRC) and leads the 'Supporting Safe Care in the Home' research theme. As a visiting Associate Professor at the University of Leeds, she co-supervises PhD students and contributes to interdisciplinary research initiatives.
Her research focuses on patient safety, medicines optimization, care transitions, deprescribing, resilient healthcare systems, and pharmacogenomic testing implementation. Notable projects include the NIHR Quality, Safety and Outcomes Policy Research Unit and studies on post-discharge care optimization for older patients. She has led national evaluations for the Department for Work and Pensions and developed research training programs.
Beth holds leadership roles in academic career development within the PSRC and collaborates with NHS organizations, charities, and private sector entities. She has contributed to over 48 publications across peer-reviewed journals, reports, and book chapters, reflecting her extensive research impact.
