Dr. Juliet Guichon is a Professor in both the Department of Community Health Sciences and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine. With a unique interdisciplinary background spanning law and medicine, she focuses on issues arising at the intersection of law, health care, ethics, religion and journalism.
Her educational background includes a B.A. in History from Yale University, two law degrees from the University of Oxford (where she was a Commonwealth Scholar), and a Doctor of Judicial Science from the University of Toronto. She has also taught at the Universities of Toronto and Brussels (VUB).
Dr. Guichon's research spans medical ethics, health law, pediatric ethics, public health policy, and the relationship between religion and healthcare. She has authored significant publications including Pediatric Ethics: Achieving Excellence When Helping Children (Springer Nature, 2019) and served as senior editor of The Right to Know One's Origins (2013), focusing on children's rights in assisted reproduction.
Her scholarly work demonstrates consistent focus on ethical decision-making in children's healthcare, the tension between religious accommodation and public health mandates, and children's rights to know their genetic origins.

Dr. Guichon has founded seven public health and child health advocacy groups and has been instrumental in major public health initiatives, including leading efforts to implement HPV vaccination in Catholic school districts (2010-2014) and restoring community water fluoridation to Calgary (2017-2021). She teaches multiple courses including Disability and the Law, Research Ethics, and Bioethics programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
