Michelle Giroux is a Full Professor at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law – Civil Law Section, where she teaches Droit des personnes et de la famille and Bioethics and Medical Law. She has held visiting professorships at Université de Montréal (2008, 2017), INRS-UCS (2014-2015), Université Paris 1-Panthéon-Sorbonne/EHESS (2012), and University of Barcelona (2003).

Her research focuses on end-of-life care law, parental rights, and assisted reproduction, with particular attention to LGBTQ+ family formation, children's right to know origins, and surrogacy arrangements. She employs comparative law and multidisciplinary approaches to analyze legal frameworks.
Recent publications examine Quebec's family law reforms, LGBTQ+ separation experiences, and transgender rights. She has received significant funding including the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation Grant (2007) and Louvain Global College of Law Fellowship (2020).
