David Gilles is a Professor at the Faculty of Law, Université de Sherbrooke, since 2009. His academic career spans institutions in France, Canada, and the United States, with a focus on legal history, epistemology, and comparative law. He has held visiting professorships at Paris Cité University, Université Catholique d’Angers, and École Militaire de Saint-Cyr.

Research Interests: His work explores the interplay between civil law and common law in Quebec’s legal evolution, environmental governance, indigenous land rights, and historical dimensions of legal philosophy. He has authored over 150 publications and 20 monographs.
Grants: He has secured significant funding from the Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie (2019), SSHRC (2018-2023), and the Fondation du Barreau (2017-2018).
Collaborations: David Gilles co-directed the Groupe de recherche SAGE and has contributed to international conferences on legal transplantation, environmental governance, and indigenous rights.
