Julianne Pedersen is a Professor in the Department of Dance at Chapman University's College of Performing Arts. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Connecticut College and a Master of Fine Arts from The Ohio State University. Certified as a yoga instructor and Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst, she previously served as Dean of the School of Dance at Dean College and as program director at Eastern Michigan University.
Her research focuses on:
- Dance pedagogy and choreographic methodologies
- Laban/Bartenieff movement analysis and somatic practices
- Modern dance techniques and improvisation
- Integration of movement curricula in K-12 education
- Intergenerational arts outreach programs
Her creative works primarily explore contemporary dance through choreographic narratives, psychological expression, and collaborative performance. Recent productions examine themes of identity, transformation, and social commentary through movement metaphors and kinetic storytelling.

She directs the 'Masters at Chapman' performance series featuring international artists and oversees intergenerational outreach programs like the Emerald Court Senior Living residency.
