Dr Julian North is an Associate Professor in Romantic and Victorian Literature at the University of Leicester's Department of English, School of Arts. He holds a DPhil from St. Hugh’s College, Oxford, where he was a Senior Scholar. Previously, he served as a Lecturer at the University of Reading and a Senior Lecturer at De Montfort University.
His research focuses on transhistorical literary boundaries, Thomas De Quincey, life writing, biographical afterlives of 19th-century writers, and intersections between literature and visual media. He co-edits Routledge's Nineteenth-Century Series with Professor Joanne Shattock.
