Vincent A. De Luca was a Professor of English at the University of Toronto, renowned for his scholarship on Romantic-period literature and 19th-century studies. He held degrees from Hamilton College (B.A.), Yale University (M.A., Ph.D.), and taught at Cornell University before joining the University of Toronto. His legacy includes two influential books: Thomas De Quincey: The Prose of Vision (1980) and Words of Eternity: Blake and the Poetics of the Sublime (1991), praised as seminal works in Blake studies.
De Luca established a graduate fellowship in his department and inspired the Vincent A. De Luca Lecture Series, an annual event honoring his contributions to 19th-century literary scholarship. The lectures feature leading scholars discussing topics such as Romanticism, Victorian literature, and cultural history.
