Dr. Julian Barling is a Professor and Borden Chair of Leadership at Queen's University's Smith School of Business, with a joint appointment in the Department of Psychology (Faculty of Arts and Science). He is a globally recognized expert in leadership development, workplace well-being, and occupational health psychology. His research focuses on transformational leadership, employee well-being, and the psychological impacts of work environments.
Barling holds a Ph.D. from the University of Witwatersrand (1979) and has authored influential books such as The Science of Leadership (2014) and Brave New Workplace (2023). He has been awarded prestigious honors, including Fellowship in the Royal Society of Canada and the Lifetime Career Achievement in Research Award from the American Psychological Association.
