Julia Voss

Hon. Prof. Dr. Julia Voss is an honorary professor at the Institute for Philosophy and Art History (IPK) at Leuphana University in Lüneburg. She holds a doctorate in art history and philosophy, with research focusing on evolutionary theory intersections with culture, art market dynamics, and provenance studies. Her career spans academia, journalism, and curation.

Education: Studied German, art history, and philosophy in Freiburg, London, and Berlin. Awards: Otto Hahn Medal (Max Planck Society), Sigmund Freud Prize for scientific prose. Key roles include heading the arts section of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (2007–2017), curating the 2013 Frankfurt Jewish Museum exhibition on 1938 art politics, and leading Hilma af Klint research projects.

Research emphasizes abstraction history, art criticism, and transdisciplinary connections between science and art.
