Thorsten Aßmann is a full professor of Ecology, specializing in Animal Ecology, at the Institute of Ecology at Leuphana University of Lüneburg. His research focuses on biodiversity, ecosystem services, and conservation biology, particularly in semi-open habitats and cultural landscapes.
His work includes projects on ground beetles (Carabidae), dung beetle communities, and biodiversity ecosystems in Central Europe. He has actively participated in international conferences such as the European Heathland Workshop and the Biodiversity Ecosystem Functioning Experiment in China.
