Julia Perdrial is an Associate Professor of Geochemistry at the University of Vermont's College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Geography and Geosciences. Her research focuses on Critical Zone processes that sustain life on Earth, integrating field observations, experiments, and data science to study water quality and security under climate change and pollution.
- PhD in Physics, Chemistry and Biology of the Environment, Université Louis Pasteur (2008)
- M.S. and B.S. in Earth Sciences from University of Heidelberg (2004, 2001)
Her interdisciplinary expertise spans mineralogy, biogeochemistry, and geomicrobiology, with a strong emphasis on collaborative STEM education. Recent work includes a synthesis project published in Nature Climate Change analyzing land-river connectivity patterns across the United States.
- Teaches courses on environmental geochemistry, critical zone science, and land-water interactions
- Director of Geosciences at UVM
