Joshua Rios is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), teaching across Liberal Arts, Contemporary Practices, and Visual and Critical Studies. He holds dual BAs in Art History and English Literature (2009, Texas State University) and an MAVCS from SAIC (2013). His work focuses on sound studies, decolonization, and social justice through art. Rios has organized exhibitions at venues like the Vincent Price Art Museum and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. He received grants including the MAP Fund and 3Arts Make a Wave Grant.
Research & Teaching: Courses include 'Sound, Noise, Power' exploring sonic justice and 'Decolonizing Time Travel' addressing archival critiques. He also teaches 'Doing Democracy' examining equitable education practices. His pedagogy emphasizes marginalized voices and hybrid art-scholarship approaches.
