Dr. Joshua Oppenheim is a Professor of Music and Director of Choral Studies at Kansas State University since 2008, previously serving at the Crane School of Music in New York. He holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from the University of North Texas. As President-Elect of the American Choral Directors Association Southwestern Region (2024-2026), he leads national initiatives in choral music education.
Education: Bachelor of Music Education (Western Michigan University), Master of Music in Choral Conducting (University of Mississippi), Doctorate of Musical Arts (University of North Texas).
His expertise focuses on choral performance, conducting pedagogy, and ensemble leadership. He has directed choirs performing at major conferences including ACDA, KMEA, and NYSSMA. His compositions and arrangements are published by Petrucci Press.
Active globally, he has conducted honor choirs in 16 U.S. states and internationally across 7 countries. Research presentations span 30 U.S. states. He leads ensembles like Concert Choir and In-A-Chord, achieving national recognition through performances at venues like Carnegie Hall and the National Cathedral.
