Associate Professor Josh Healy is affiliated with the University of Sydney Business School’s Department of Managing People and Organisations. His expertise spans industrial/employment relations, labour economics, and the sociology of work, with a focus on the gig economy, automation, gender inequality, and workplace dignity. He has held teaching roles at the University of Sydney (2025–present), University of Newcastle (2021–2024), and University of Melbourne (2015–2020), covering courses like Responsible Business Mindset and Foundations of Work and Employment.
His research outputs include highly cited journal articles and government reports, such as a 2024 study on civilian employer support for part-time military service and a 2020 analysis of consumer perspectives in the gig economy. He currently serves as Associate Editor of Labour and Industry and Vice-Chair of the Industrial Relations Society of NSW. His media engagements include ABC and Sydney Morning Herald commentaries on gig economy reforms and gender equality.
A/Prof Healy leads a 2025 multi-year grant on advancing gender equality via the Australian Government’s Working for Women Strategy. He actively supervises Higher Degree Research students in employment relations, future of work, and human resource management topics.
