Elizabeth Hill is a Professor in the Department of Political Economy at the University of Sydney. She holds roles as Deputy Director of the Australian Centre for Gender Equality and Inclusion at Work, co-convenor of the Australian Work and Family Policy Roundtable, and co-convenor of the Body@Work Project. Her research focuses on gender equality, work, and care in Australia and Asia-Pacific, with a particular emphasis on policy design and labor market dynamics.
Education: BEc (Social Science) from Sydney University, PhD from Sydney University.
Research interests include gender and economic development, employment policy in emerging economies, and the informal economy. Current projects explore gender equality in the post-pandemic future of work, sexual harassment in retail sectors, and equitable economic opportunities for women in NSW.
Recent articles analyze menstrual leave policies, workplace sexual harassment, and the impact of digital technology on working women. She has contributed to policy reports on parental leave, flexible work arrangements, and gender equity strategies. Elizabeth advises government bodies like the NSW Women’s Advisory Council and collaborates with international organizations such as UN Women and the International Labour Organization.
