Dr. Joseph Trabbic is an Associate Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Philosophy Department at Ave Maria University. His research focuses on metaphysics, philosophical theology, and political philosophy, with particular emphasis on Thomas Aquinas, continental philosophers like Heidegger and Marion, and the intersection of Catholicism and political thought. He holds a B.A. from the University of Dallas, and M.A. and Ph.D. from Fordham University.
His work bridges systematic and historical philosophy, exploring topics such as divine transcendence, ontotheology critique, and the Church-state relationship. Notable publications include contributions to the Palgrave Handbook of Religion and State (2023) and American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly (2021). He has translated significant works like Nicola Bux’s Benedict XVI’s Reform (2012) and Pasquale Porro’s Thomas Aquinas (2016).
Active in academic outreach, Dr. Trabbic lectures nationally through the Thomistic Institute on themes like arguments for God’s existence and postmodernism. His interviews and public talks address topics ranging from Thomistic exegesis to Heidegger’s critiques of Christian philosophy. He currently serves as a translator, reviewer, and engaged scholar in Catholic intellectual traditions.
