Steven Long, Ph.D., is a Professor of Theology at Ave Maria University, specializing in Thomistic metaphysics, moral theology, and the interplay between nature and grace. He holds degrees from the University of Toledo (B.A. & M.A. in Philosophy) and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from The Catholic University of America, with postgraduate research at the Catholic University of Leuven. Dr. Long is an Ordinarius at the Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas in Vatican City. His research focuses on St. Thomas Aquinas, exploring fundamental theology, natural law ethics, and the historico-doctrinal disputes within Catholic theology. He has published three major books and over 60 peer-reviewed articles, emphasizing classical Thomistic natural law. Dr. Long mentors PhD students and teaches at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels, attracting global students to Ave Maria University.
His recent publications include *Analogia Entis* (2011), *The Teleological Grammar of the Moral Act* (2016), and *Natura Pura* (2020), alongside essays on Thomistic exegesis and grace. He regularly presents internationally and has been honored for his contributions to theological scholarship. Dr. Long’s work bridges metaphysics, ethics, and Catholic tradition, advocating for the Dominican maxim of contemplation and shared insight.
