Dr. Joseph Craig Longenecker is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Drexel University's Dornsife School of Public Health. He holds an MD from Johns Hopkins University, a PhD in Epidemiology, an MPH in Epidemiology, and a BS in Chemistry from Wheaton College. Dr. Longenecker has over two decades of experience in academia, previously serving as Inaugural Vice-Dean, Academic at Kuwait University’s College of Public Health (2015–2021) and at Johns Hopkins University (1996–2002).
His research focuses on non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular and renal disease, hypertension, and diabetes, with emphasis on public health surveillance and interventions. He has led national health surveys in Kuwait, including the WHO STEPS Study and the Kuwait Salt Intake and Renal Disease Study, which informed public health policy.
