Mitchell T. Wallin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is a board-certified clinician-scientist specializing in multiple sclerosis (MS), neuroepidemiology, and global health, with over 20 years of research experience supported by grants from the National MS Society, NIH, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Education: BS in Biology from Wheaton College, MD from University of Minnesota School of Medicine, and MPH from Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health.
Dr. Wallin leads the VA MS Center of Excellence-East and chairs the US Multiple Sclerosis Prevalence Workgroup, which produced the first nationally representative MS prevalence estimate for the US. His research integrates telemedicine, health policy, and global disease burden analysis, with a focus on neurological infections and epidemiological modeling.
His recent publications highlight expertise in MS epidemiology, global health disparities, and longitudinal studies of neuroinfectious diseases. Collaborative work includes projects with the Global Burden of Disease Study Group and clinical research in Zambia.
