معرفی
Tara McAlexander, PhD, MPH, is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Drexel University's Dornsife School of Public Health. Her research focuses on environmental epidemiology, particularly the role of community and environmental exposures in cardio-metabolic diseases. She holds a PhD from Johns Hopkins University (2019), an MPH from Columbia University (2012), and a BA from Barnard College (2010).
Education:
- PhD: Exposure Sciences and Environmental Epidemiology, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
- MPH: Environmental and Molecular Epidemiology, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health
- BA: Environmental Science, Barnard College
Research Interests: Her work addresses spatial analysis of environmental exposures, data modeling methods, health disparities, and the built environment's impact on chronic diseases. She explores urban-rural differences in diabetes incidence and the effects of air pollution on cardiovascular health.
Research Contributions: Her studies use large cohorts like REGARDS and the Diabetes LEAD Network to evaluate food environments, particulate matter exposure, and unconventional natural gas development impacts. She develops novel geospatial methodologies to categorize community types for epidemiological analysis.
Advising & Collaborations: Leads projects in the Diabetes Location, Environmental Attributes, and Disparities (LEAD) Network. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on environmental justice issues and health policy implications of environmental exposures.
Labs/Teams: Active in Drexel's environmental health research group and contributes to national studies on environmental determinants of chronic disease.
