Dr. Joseph Carucci is a saxophonist, composer, and educator currently serving as the Director of the Dana School of Music and University Theatre at Youngstown State University (YSU). He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Kentucky and has taught at institutions including Eastern Kentucky University, Lincoln Memorial University, University of Minnesota-Morris, and Transylvania University.

His research and professional activities focus on improvisation, jazz pedagogy, musicians’ health, and arts leadership. Carucci has presented at international conferences such as the International Society of Music Education, North American Saxophone Alliance, and Improvising Brain II and III.
As a performer, he has toured globally with artists like the Temptations and Manhattan Transfer, co-founded the DiMartino-Osland Jazz Orchestra, and released three studio albums, including Stories and Melodies. His compositions are published by Walrus Publishing and Jazz Lines Publications.
