Neil Wetzel is an Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Jazz Studies at Moravian University, where he teaches saxophone, directs the BIG Band, and oversees the jazz studies program. He holds a B.M. and M.A.T. from the University of the Arts and an Ed.D. from Columbia University, focusing on learning theories and jazz pedagogy.

His research and expertise span jazz pedagogy, saxophone performance (both classical and jazz), jazz history, improvisation, woodwind instruction, and music theory. He authored the textbook Learning Jazz Language (2010) and published on jazz pedagogical methods.
Wetzel's scholarly work and performances highlight jazz education and saxophone training, bridging classical and jazz traditions. His article on jazz sound for classical saxophonists contributes to pedagogical practices in music education.
