Patrick Booth is a saxophonist, composer, and educator affiliated with the Department of Music at Northern Michigan University. His career spans classical performance, jazz, and improvisation, with a focus on socially conscious music that promotes environmental equity, racial equity, and youth empowerment.
- Education: B.A. in Classical Saxophone and Education from Central Michigan University; M.M. in Improvisation from the University of Michigan.
Booth’s research interests center on innovative approaches to jazz improvisation, experimental music, and interdisciplinary collaborations that merge art with activism. His work often involves partnerships with environmental and social justice organizations.
As a performer, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Geri Allen, Wadada Leo Smith, David Liebman, and Terri Lynn Carrington, appearing on numerous recordings as both a leader and sideman. He is also a member of Earthwork Music, a collective dedicated to ecological and social advocacy through art.
