Jordi Oliver Oliver

Dr. Jordi Oliver Oliver has been a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) since 2016. He serves as Deputy Director of the Department of Fundamental Biology and Health Sciences (since 2017) and Secretary of the Academic Committee for the PhD program in Translational Research in Public Health. His academic background includes a Bachelor's (1983-1988) and PhD (1996) from UIB.

Professor Oliver leads research at the Multidisciplinary Research Group in Translational Oncology (GMOT) within the University Institute for Research in Health Sciences (IUNICS) and Health Research Institute of the Balearic Islands (IDISBA). His work focuses on:

• Energy metabolism and mitochondrial dysfunction
• Oxidative stress mechanisms
• Hormonal influences in cancer pathogenesis
• Nutritional biochemistry in disease development

He is also a member of CIBERobn (Center for Biomedical Research in Obesity and Nutrition).

With over 60 research projects (10 as principal investigator) and 80 publications, his work bridges molecular biology and clinical oncology. Teaching responsibilities include coordinating courses such as:

• Analytical and Clinical Biochemistry
• Molecular Basis of Carcinogenesis
• Oxidative Stress and Aging
• Master's thesis supervision

across biochemistry and biomedical programs.
