Antonio Sureda Gomila

Antonio Sureda Gomila is a full-time Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), within the School of Fundamental Biology and Health Sciences. He is actively affiliated with the Physical Activity Sciences Laboratory, the Community Nutrition and Oxidative Stress (NUCOX) research group, the Balearic Islands Health Research Institute (IdISBa), CIBEROBN (Pathophysiology of Obesity and Nutrition), and IUNICS (University Institute for Research in Health Sciences).

His research spans oxidative stress, inflammation, nutritional biochemistry, exercise biochemistry, ecological biochemistry, and ecotoxicology. He has made significant contributions to understanding how nutrition and physical activity modulate oxidative and inflammatory pathways, particularly in human health and environmental contexts.

The 15 most recent articles reflect a strong interdisciplinary focus on biochemistry applied to nutrition, sports science, aging, and environmental health. Key trends include the role of diet and exercise in redox balance, the use of biochemical biomarkers in ecotoxicology, and interventions in clinical and community nutrition.
