Ana María Proenza Arenas

Dr. Ana María Proenza Arenas is a Full Professor in the Department of Fundamental Biology and Health Sciences at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), holding this position since 2017. She specializes in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, with a focus on metabolic syndrome, oxidative stress, and sex hormone impacts on cardiovascular health. She has extensive administrative experience as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sciences (2016–2020) and Deputy Director of her department (2005–2012).

Teaching Roles: Leads courses in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Master’s programs on Nutrition and Biomedical Research. Co-directs the Master’s in Biomedical Research and oversees the Mediterranean Diet and Cardiovascular Risk modules.
