Dr. Jonathan Mattanah is a Professor of Psychology at Towson University's College of Liberal Arts, specializing in Clinical Psychology. He has held roles including Assistant Professor (1999-2004), Associate Professor (2004-2011), and Full Professor since 2011. His research focuses on lifespan development, emerging adulthood, attachment theory, and college student adjustment. He teaches courses such as Abnormal Psychology, Psychotherapy, and Research Methods. Dr. Mattanah has authored numerous publications, including a book on college student psychological development and meta-analyses on parental attachment.
Education: Ph.D. & M.A. in Clinical Psychology from UC Berkeley (1999), B.A. in Psychology from Yale University (1991). He completed a pre-doctoral clinical internship at Stanford Children's Hospital.
Research Interests: Dr. Mattanah examines factors influencing socio-emotional development during emerging adulthood, including family dynamics, attachment security, and romantic relationships. His work has been published in journals like Journal of Counseling Psychology and Journal of College Student Development.
Publications and Awards: He has received multiple teaching awards, including Towson University's Faculty of the Year (2009) and Distinguished Faculty Awards from Psi Chi. His research has been funded by grants from the NIH and Towson University.
