Holly Chalk is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at McDaniel College. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Counseling Psychology from The Ohio State University and completed her postdoctoral internship at the Baltimore VAMC. She is a licensed clinical psychologist maintaining a private practice while teaching and conducting research.

Her research focuses on psychological adjustment during major life transitions, with a specialized interest in emerging adulthood and disability in young adults. She explores how identity, belonging, and life changes impact mental health and well-being. Her teaching portfolio includes Abnormal Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Couple Counseling, Writing in Psychology, and the innovative course The Psychology of Star Wars.
Her recent publications center on disability identity, health implications of emerging adulthood, and psychological outcomes in sexual minorities. These works reflect interdisciplinary engagement with developmental, clinical, and social psychology.

Holly Chalk actively mentors students, advising research and serving as Faculty Advisor for Active Minds on the Hill and Internship Coordinator for the Psychology Department. She leads a research lab focused on emerging adulthood and is involved in community mental health initiatives through student organizations and clinical practice.
