Jessica Ford serves as an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology at McDaniel College, where she integrates sport psychology and clinical mental health counseling to advance athlete wellness and performance optimization.
Her educational background includes:
- 2024: M.S. in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health specialization from McDaniel College
- 2020: Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Sport Psychology & Performance Excellence emphasis, cognate minor in Counseling from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
- 2015: M.S. in Exercise and Sport Sciences, Sport Psychology concentration from Ithaca College
- 2013: B.A. in Psychology from The Catholic University of America
Dr. Ford's research examines mental skills transfer between athletic and artistic domains, with primary focus on applying sport psychology to musicians and other performers. Her work also investigates injury psychology and professional ethics in sport psychology practice, driven by her dual background as a three-sport collegiate athlete and musician.
She teaches core courses including Psychology of Sport & Exercise (KIN 2240), Psychology of Performance (FYS 1261), Motor Development (KIN 2223), and the Kinesiology Capstone (KIN 4490). Dr. Ford actively participates in Phi Beta Kappa and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, emphasizing interdisciplinary connections between performance psychology and clinical practice.
