John Thomasson

John Thomasson is a Professor of Voice (Music Pedagogy) and Deputy Department Head at the Department of Vocal Studies within the School of Music & Art Education (SOMA) at Mozarteum University. He holds a doctorate in voice performance from the University of Iowa and performance degrees in opera and German Lied from Mozarteum University. Previously, he served as Professor of Voice at Florida Southern College and Shorter University.

Research/Teaching Focus: Vocal technique, opera repertoire, and art song pedagogy. Known for training singers who excel in international competitions and professional stages.

Advising & Career Impact: Mentored students engaged in Broadway musicals and European operas. Served as NATS President in Georgia and Vice President of Tampa Bay NATS. Currently on the Board of Directors for the European Voice Teachers Association-Austria.
