Jeffrey Williams is an Associate Professor of Voice at Austin Peay State University (APSU) in Tennessee. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (Vocal Pedagogy and Performance) from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, a Master of Music from The Johns Hopkins University's Peabody Conservatory, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Muhlenberg College. Additional studies include programs at Sachrang Akademie (Germany), Académie Musicale de Villecroze (France), Salzburg Mozarteum Sommerakademie (Austria), and SongFest's Professional Development Program.
His research interests focus on:
- 19th-century German composer Heinrich Marschner
- Laryngeal tilt vs. laryngeal lean in vocal technique
- Interdisciplinary applications for voice teachers (speech pathology insights)
- Arioso/recitative performance practice
- Russian vocal/opera literature and diction
His professional recordings include critically acclaimed works like The Death of Webern (Albany Records, 2016) and Heinrich Marschner: Songs for Baritone (Centaur Records, 2021). These recordings span world premieres, mini-operas, and German art songs, reflecting his expertise in both historical and contemporary vocal performance.
