Laura Rucker Coale serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Voice in the Music department at Oklahoma Christian University, a position she has held since 1992. She also maintains a private voice studio alongside her university responsibilities.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Arts in Theater from Oklahoma Christian University
- Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Vocal Performance from the University of Central Oklahoma
Professor Coale specializes in voice instruction, vocal pedagogy, and opera direction, with extensive expertise in French and German diction for singers. Her professional practice integrates performance artistry and pedagogy, demonstrated through directing annual spring operas and conducting performance workshops. As an active performer, she has appeared in over 40 productions across operas, musicals, and plays, including signature roles like Madama Butterfly and The Sound of Music.
She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and a lifetime member of both Alpha Psi Omega Drama Fraternity and Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity. Her professional development includes vocal studies with W. Stephen Smith and Pamela Green, and assistant director experience under Broadway directors Tamara Long and Carveth Osterhaus.
