Barbara Bland serves as a Lecturer and Applied Instructor of Voice at Oakland University's School of Music, Theatre and Dance, where she has taught since 1999. An accomplished mezzo soprano, she maintains an active dual career in performance and pedagogy.
Her academic credentials include a BA and master's degree in Vocal Performance. Additional specialized training includes certification as an AmSAT teacher of the Alexander Technique through Alexander Technique Ann Arbor under Jane Heirich.
Ms. Bland's professional focus centers on operatic performance and vocal pedagogy, with significant expertise in mezzo soprano repertoire. Her performance history demonstrates deep engagement with standard operatic works including La Traviata, Carmen, and Madama Butterfly, while her teaching integrates the Alexander Technique to enhance vocal technique and artistry.
