Kade McKay (they/them) serves as Lecturer of Voice in the School of Music, Theatre and Dance at Oakland University, where they combine performance artistry with gender-affirming pedagogy as a classically trained mezzo-soprano active in Metro-Detroit and New York City performance scenes.
McKay's educational foundation includes:
- Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Education from Oakland University
- Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Manhattan School of Music
As an artist-educator, McKay specializes in authentic vocal exploration through gender-affirming instruction, with performance expertise spanning Baroque opera (Monteverdi's Rinaldo), Romantic repertoire (Puccini's La Bohème), and contemporary works. Their artistic practice bridges classical traditions with modern expression, emphasizing vocal identity and technical mastery across diverse genres.
