Emily Benner serves as Lecturer of Voice in the School of Music at Eastern Michigan University, with concurrent faculty appointments at Albion College since 2004 and prior teaching at Spring Arbor University (1999-2001). An accomplished soprano, she maintains an active performance career spanning opera, musical theatre, and concert repertoire.

Her performance highlights include leading roles with Michigan Opera Theatre (First Lady in The Magic Flute, Javotte in Manon) and Toledo Opera (Cio-Cio San in Madama Butterfly, title role in Tosca). She regularly collaborates with orchestras including Toledo Symphony (Rodgers and Hammerstein Review), Detroit Symphony Orchestra (Young People's Series), and regional ensembles for premieres like Enid Sutherland's Daphne and Apollo Remade. As an educator, she teaches studio voice, vocal pedagogy, and opera workshop while maintaining private studios in Ann Arbor and Grosse Pointe.
